Our Story

Ciao! My name is Kirstin, and I am the owner and operator of Piccoline's Table, based out of Marlborough, Massachusetts. Piccoline’s Table is a proud local home-based pasta shop where we create endless varieties of pasta! We currently offer free pick-up on Fridays from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM, as well as options for local delivery, and shipping!

My personal loving relationship with food began at a very young age, in my Grandparent’s kitchen in New Jersey. Before I was even old enough to understand or appreciate the initiation I was a part of, my Grandfather would have me try fresh, raw vegetables right from his humble little backyard garden. He would pick green beans, lettuce, and tomatoes still wet with dew from the cool, early mornings, and hold them right up to my mouth, never taking no for an answer. At the time, I really only understood food as being seasoned or sauced, and prepared on a plate. Yet, even being so young, as I’d crunch on a green bean, I could always see the excitement in his eyes, and could tell he wanted me to appreciate these simple pleasures as much as he did. For him, the most proud Italian man I’ve EVER met, discussing and enjoying food meant celebrating a rite and ritual, with food representing the biggest expression of our culture. He raised me on stories of my Grandma (who had passed) beginning each Sunday morning before the sun came up, in the kitchen breaking down tomatoes and hand rolling pounds of fresh pasta. My Grandfather Anthony Piccoline was truly the embodiment of the concept of Food = Love. To my Pop, food translates to time spent with family, laughter, conversation, and making memories. To Pop, this all happens over a warm plate of pasta, with a glass of wine.

I grew up finely tuning my skills at traditional Italian cooking, growing from my Grandparent’s kitchen, to cooking side by side with my Mom. Then, life took a dark turn as it often does, and I found myself sick with Cancer. Once I recovered, I was faced with a new challenge. For my health, I had to find newer, healthier ways to cook classic favorites. (Although Italian / Mediterranean food isn’t considered unhealthy, I still had to find new creative ways to make healthier versions of my favorite meals). I spent years adjusting and alternating recipes, and now these newly crafted versions have become favorites as well! My goal was to NEVER feel like I was sacrificing, or eating “diet” food, left craving. I believe delicious, comfort food should be accessible and enjoyable, even to those of us with bodies that like to fight us, as mine often does :-) This journey then led me down the road of fresh pasta making! Hand making pasta comes straight from the heart, and is the Italian version of love and care on a plate.

Although both of my Grandparents are now gone from this world, I proudly carry on their traditions. Just as a painter carefully works to execute the exact correct shade of color for their canvas, I carefully work to perfect as many fresh and beautiful pasta variations as I can, without any chemicals or artificial additives! My canvas is my plate. Eating healthy or authentically does NOT have to be boring or basic, and I'm here to prove it!

Living here in Marlborough Massachusetts, I realized the one thing I felt was missing - a lovely little local Italian market! These tiny little specialty markets had always been close by, living in New Jersey and even in Pennsylvania and New York. Living here, our options for fresh pasta seem limited to either traveling to the North End of Boston, or buying the packaged pasta from local supermarkets. Because of this, I decided to provide these items to my community, but instead of a storefront, from my very own Italian kitchen!!

Today, I take pride in creating the freshest and cleanest pasta I can (with a bit of fun and flair), to share with others, just as my Grandma did every Sunday in “Old-New Jersey.”

We follow 2 special mantras here at Piccoline’s Table, so to all my lovely fellow pasta lovers and old school souls out there, we say:

“Bringing back Sunday dinners, one table at a time”

and

“As CLOSE to Italy as we can possibly bring you!”

ABOUT ME

  • Hello! I am a loud and proud Italian, born and raised in New Jersey (Although Boston has always had my heart!). A lifelong corporate girl who became completely burnt out and unhappy, I decided to follow my passion and bring it back to my roots - my love and dedication to food, cooking, and of course, pasta making! When I’m not in my kitchen (which is hardly EVER!) I enjoy running, reading (especially during rain or thunderstorms!), and watching True Crime documentaries! I am a lover of history, and ALL things spooky like scary movies and anything supernatural! I’m also a HUGE animal lover and supporter, with a special focus on dogs :) An old soul at heart, I’m a true admirer of “the good old days” and their influential players, from Sinatra to Elvis to Jackie Kennedy. My 2 nicknames have always been Wednesday and Cash…...and my photograph depicts exactly why :-)
